LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy in San Francisco
What is LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy?
Affirmative therapy offers a non-judgmental, anti-oppressive space to explore the challenges of holding identities that are at odds with societal expectations. Having personally experienced both affirming and non-affirming therapy, I am committed to ensuring you feel supported. We’ll explore how society, systems of oppression, and lived experiences shape us, while celebrating the resilience of queerness and other identities.
I want to acknowledge that therapy alone cannot solve the impacts of heteronormativity, racism, capitalism, ableism, etc. I hope, however, that it provides a space to process the impacts of these systems and practice resistance. Whether you're coping with trauma, societal pressures, or mental health challenges, I am passionate about creating a collaborative environment to encourage self-compassion, gain clarity, and develop helpful tools.

Choosing an LGBTQ Therapist
I believe that you are the expert on your experiences and your life, and view my role as a guide and collaborator. You can expect sessions with me to have a good dose of curiosity, warmth, playfulness, and authenticity. I strive for therapy to be a compassionate and non-judgemental space for everyone. My approach centers on a multicultural and social justice lens—meaning that my work embraces intersectionality, cultural identities, social locations, and the broader contexts of your lived experience.
How Can LGBTQ+ Therapy Support You?
Together, we can explore:
Identity: Exploring sexual orientation or gender identity.
Bisexuality: Addressing harm caused by erasure, biphobia, and feeling “not queer enough,” which can lead to feelings of invisibility and isolation.
Coming Out: Navigating conversations with family, friends, or colleagues.
Gender: Gender exploration and alignment, coping with gender dysphoria, feeling more gender euphoria.
Society: Impacts of oppression, privilege, societal expectations and culture.
Anxiety & Depression: Tools for managing anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns in a way that affirms your identity and personal experiences.
Body Image: Exploring how the intersections of queerness, body image, and things like chronic pain, disordered eating, and beauty standards are impacting you.

I work with clients in California and the Bay Area virtually and I also offer walk-and-talk sessions in San Francisco around the mission district. Together, we will explore your experiences and your strengths, and find areas where there’s room for growth and change. In addition to affirmative therapy, my approach is informed by parts work, narrative theory, ecopsychology, mindfulness, and contemporary psychodynamics.
